| People probably want to know how I knew Candy, or did I know Andy? In other words, who
is she? I was a high school girl
in New York
who went out an awful lot and hung
around downtown and The Factory. I took these photos later on while I was finishing art
school. So this is "student work," if you believe in such a thing-- (I don't).
Some of my best friends were Superstars, so I am a person who knew semi-famous people who
know some very famous people and so on. "In 1971, I lived in a loft across from the
Chelsea Hotel, upstairs from a beauty parlor and downstairs from photographer Peter Hujar.
I was in my third year in art school and fifth year in Maxes. I was in full creative
swing. One day, Candy, Jeremiah, and I took the subway to Brighton Beach in Brooklyn. We
had a large makeup bag and two evening gowns. We found a delicatessen and Candy changed
into the lamé. It was windy and the water was cold. These are the photos we did that day
